Brighton and Hove City Council is responsible for 80 schools, of which 53 are in Brighton. There is a further education and sixth-form college, plus the privatised Hove College.

State schools are supplemented by faith and independent establishments, plus a fully-accredited music college, the Brighton Institute of Modern Music.

Undergraduates can choose from the University of Brighton and the University of Sussex. Together, they’ve also formed the Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
